Types of Vinyl Banners
We do different types of banner vinyl printing to get different print results:
Front-lit banner vinyl is typically used for outdoor sign and billboard application. It contains a polyester scrim coated with PVC which combines strength with a quality finish. It is the best value solid banner we offer.
Corporate grade vinyl is a heavier and more durable banner. It is single-sided print and 550 gsm. Used in longer term applications or where extra strength is a benefit.
Double sided banner is a front lit banner printed on both sides. Frontlit means that the light emanates on the face of the banner rather than from behind. Two sided banners are useful in shop window displays.
Vinyl banners should last up to 2 years unlaminated or up to 6 years with liquid lamination. Anti-graffiti lacquer can also be applied which offers both UV protection and protection from vandals.

How To Install
Installation of a vinyl banner on a fence:
1. Preferably chose a solid fence (eg wood). Vinyl banners are best with the wind from behind blocked. If a banner is going on chain link fence or temporary fence then use a smaller banner size.
2. Connect the top corners to the fence using tek screws and a large washer on wooden fences, or using cable ties on smaller fences. Do not use wire or stainless steel cable ties. Better for the cable tie to fail than the eyelet to rip out.
3. Connect the rest of the top row with the chosen method from above. Install the banner at 90 degrees to the ground.
Installation of a vinyl banner between star pickets:
1. Drive in one star picket to the height of the banner. Ensure that the banner is shorter than the exposed bottom hole to allow for tensioning.
2. Measure out the banner and leave 20mm extra between the pickets if you are using cable ties to fasten the banner. If you are using springs to maintain constant even tension then leave the length of the spring plus 20mm.
If you are in a windy location consider using banner mesh banners.

Q. Are vinyl banners good for outdoors?
A. Yes and no. Large vinyl banners need a backing or the eyelets rip out or they pull the fence down.
Q. What are the billboards made from?
A. Billboard and similar large signs are generally made using PCV banner. It is waterproof and exceptionally durable. Laminated vinyl can last up to 6 years outside.
Q. Are there different types of vinyl for banners?
A. Yes, there are many kinds of vinyl used to make banners. Banner vinyl includes truck curtain and backlit signs.
Q. Is vinyl suitable for construction hoardings?
A. Yes, vinyl treated with anti-graffiti laminate is the best material for large scale development signage. It looks amazing years after being printed so suits long build times.
Q. Can I use vinyl banners indoors?
A. Double sided vinyl banners are often used in shop window displays. It is the exact same product we use for street pole signs. An indoor vinyl banner can last 10 years.
Q. Can you make banners with keder ending?
A. Yes, we offer keder (for use with aluminium sailtrack), eyelets or pole pockets. We do not offer rope finishing on our banners – if you have ever seen a banner installed with rope you will understand that the banner always looks loose.
Usually it depends what you will install it on. We can print sheets up to 3000mm x 1500mm. Corflute signs can also be made larger by installing them next to each other. The print is borderless and the join is virtually invisible.
Q. Do you print double sided banners?
A. Yes, we make double sided banners which can be used as hanging banners or on street pole signs.
Q. How accurate can I expect the size of the banner?
A. There may be a small amount of shrinkage in the printing process. With keder frames please supply us with keder edge to keder edge measurements and we will adjust the artwork accordingly.
Q. How large can an outdoor banner be?
A. Vinyl banners can be very large. Our vinyl printer can print up to 5m wide and separate pieces can be joined together with welding. In this case there is a seam but it is barely noticeable from a distance. Speak with us about your requirements and we will advise the best way of doing it.
Q. How long will it take to produce my pvc banner?
A. Lead times vary on the length of our print queue and can be anything from a few hours two a few weeks for really large jobs. We will let you know what to expect in the quoting process.
Q. Do the banners have a gloss finish?
A. Our banners are printed on matt stock but we can print gloss if the job is large enough.
Q. How do I know what size pole pocket I need for my hanging banner?
A. Using poles to install hanging banners or on-stage sets is best achieved using poles to keep an even tension. We recommend no more than a 40mm diameter metal rod. To work out what size pocket you will need we will multiply the diameter of the pole by Pi to give us the circumference.
Q. Are there extra setup fees for multiple designs?
A. If you are supplying your own artwork for your vinyl banner then the set up fees are included in the price we give you. We don’t charge additional set up fees unless there is a really large amount of artwork to be processed and/or changes need to be made to get the artwork print ready.
