Inflatable Advertising Pillars: Sizes, Setup and Where They Work Best
Inflatable Branding Guide · 4 min read
Focus Banners makes inflatable advertising pillars, printed with any design, that stay standing on one fill of air rather than a blower running the whole time. They are built to mark a spot, a turn or an entrance.
What is an inflatable advertising pillar?
An inflatable pillar is a tall, airtight column made from TPU and covered in waterproof 500 denier polyester, printed full colour and inflated once with a pump rather than kept running on a continuous fan.
Because it is airtight, it holds pressure once the valve is sealed instead of needing air pumped in continuously. That is the same principle as an airtight inflatable arch, just in a single freestanding column instead of an arch shape, which is why pillars work well grouped together or lined up beside other inflatable branding.
What sizes do inflatable pillars come in?
Pillars come in ten sizes across two widths, plus a 0.9m-wide option. The 0.45m-wide family runs 2.0, 2.5, 2.8, 3.0 and 4.0m tall; the 0.6m-wide family runs 2.5, 2.8, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0m tall. The same product scales from a 2m column that fits under a low marquee roof to a 5m one that reads from the far side of a car park.
| Width | Heights available |
|---|---|
| 0.45m | 2.0m, 2.5m, 2.8m, 3.0m, 4.0m |
| 0.6m | 2.5m, 2.8m, 3.0m, 4.0m, 5.0m |

Taller, wider pillars suit a main entrance or a busy event frontage. Smaller pillars work well grouped together or placed at intervals along a race course, where the goal is a repeated visual marker rather than one dominant column.
Pegs or weights hold a pillar in position once it is up, so an exposed, windy site is worth planning anchoring for rather than assuming it will stand on its own.
Where do inflatable pillars work best?
Pillars are commonly used to mark meeting points and turning points on race courses, and as timing pillars at the start and finish, since a tall column is easier to spot from a distance than a ground-level sign.
They also work well at trade shows and brand activations, especially grouped together, where multiple pillars can create a wall effect, or combined with inflatable furniture for one consistent look across a stand. A pillar lit from inside with LED lighting keeps working after dark, which matters for any event that runs into the evening.
How do you set up an inflatable pillar?
Setup runs: move the pillar into the display area, roll it out flat with the graphic face up, check the area for anything that could snag it, insert the pump into the valve and inflate, then remove the pump and seal the valve tightly once the pillar has taken shape. An overfill valve stops it from being over-inflated.
Once up, pegs or weights hold the pillar in position. No blower and no power supply are needed to keep it standing, which is the main practical advantage over a continuously blown inflatable. Internal LED lighting is the one add-on that does need its own power source.

Can the message be changed later?
Yes. The cover is separate from the inflatable structure, so a new design can be printed and swapped onto the same pillar without buying a new unit, which is worth planning for if a pillar will be reused across more than one event or season.
FAQs
TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) covered in waterproof 500 denier polyester, the same style of build used for airtight inflatable arches.
No blower or power supply is needed to keep one standing. A continuously blown inflatable needs power running the whole time it is up; a pillar does not, though LED lighting, if you add it, does need its own power source.
Up to 5m, in the 5m x 0.6m size. The shortest is 2m x 0.45m, which suits indoor spaces and low ceilings.
Yes, with internal LED lighting, which keeps the pillar visible and on-brand for events that run after dark.
